Practice of Colour Contouring

I enjoyed using the acrylic dye and experimenting different shapes and making different areas stand out more. I know if I use acrylic ink all over the face in the future you should use dermashield to prevent staining.

Here you can see I didn't quite manage to blend as well as I should have done. But once I added white I felt it looked better and the shading was better.

Here is the final piece but I ran out of time so it wasn't quite finished. I found it hard to create a symmetrical look. But i enjoyed blending and creating darker shades of different colour.

Demostration of Colour Contouring

I really liked to two colours purple and yellow used together. It created a really good look. They really complimented eachother.

Colour Contouring

This video shows part of a colour contouring lesson using complementary colour from using a colour wheel. We learnt that warmer colours are used to contour and colder colours are used to hight light. Colour is perceptual.

Photo Shoot

Colour Contouring

In the video it shows how to treat your client when applying the different stages of contouring. It also shows the different brushes used and how to apply the make up.

Contouring

Base layer of foundation was applied.

Contouring under the eyes. Added lighter foundation on the forehead to make it look smaller as well as to the nose and chin.

Color was added. Darker shade on the cheek bones and blusher added to the cheeks and spread up to the temple.

The final. Was really happy with this especially the way the cheek bones stood out but maybe could have gone a bit bolder.

Practice Photo Shoot

Today I practiced make up for a photo shoot. Using the mood boards I have created I chose the colour pink. I kept my make up quite simple as shown. I got inspiration from magazines(instyle) and music(pink) and artists. I was disappointed with my final result as I thought the pink didn't show up as much as I wanted. Next time I'm going to use a blond haired model and use wash out pink dye similar to what Lady Gaga had. I also am going to include some flowers in the next shoot which was inspired by Ultra pink Mariah Carey perfume which is my favourite perfume.

Natural Beauty

http://www.nowness.com/day/2011/6/29/1521/lernert-and-sander--natural-beauty
In this video it show 365 days worth of make up put on someone's face in one day. This video really reminded me of my Elizabethan project as the face really starts to look shriveled and old. And this reminded me of when we were testing egg whites and talcum powder on the face which is the same texture as what the Elizabethan's would use on there face.

The Taming Of The Shrew

The character Catherine has very pale face which can relate to Elizabethan era of pale, pasty face. The styling of her wedding dress has a large collar which is a contemporary Elizabethan look.
I found the styling of the character  Petruchio a good contemporary look from Elizabethan time. The long velvert coat is very elizabethan as well as the ruffled shirt and large sleeves.

Post Elizabethan Egg Whites

Here we were trying to create a post Elizabethan egg glazing look. We cleansed the face and then added the foundation base. Afterwards we applied 2 layers of egg white to the face. This created a nice shine to the face and made the face much tighter.

Here the egg white glaze was put on. We used soft strokes of a flat brush to apply the egg whites as you can see the lines around the eyes have become much tighter. But we found the foundation base layer came off slightly when applying the egg glaze.
Here we had applied the first layer of white powder mixed with egg white onto the face. As you can see it created a great creasing and wrinkly effect. Almost like someone had aged dramatically.

This is the final layer of white paste to the face and I really liked the final effect of wrinkles and lines created this would look great in a photo shoot. Maybe just used on a hand or just on the neck.

Origins of the perfect world cleanser cost only £16 and voted number 1 in Marie Claire this is great for ageing skins and its great because of the small price tag. It can be purchased in Boots.

Practical Foundation

  • These are the final results of applying foundation. As you can see I did half the face so you could really notice the difference. Especially around the eye area it makes them really stand out. I found that I didn't quite work enough under the eyes. They needed a lighter concealer and much more work put into them.

Applying Foundation

In this video we learnt how to apply foundation using pallets and testing to get the right skin tone. Always use Grease foundation on Grease. And only use powder on powder. Always finish by powdering this sets the make up, stops greasing and stops shine and creasing.

Foundation Session

Here we went through brushes types to be used on the face for specific things. Always use Foundation-Concealer then powder. Lots of buffing with buffer brush. Mac face/primer is great for men as well as tinted moisturiser. Greaseface foundation is good for dry skin and looks great in photos. Using the screenface triangle sponge is great for dabbing on foundation and getting excess foundation off.

Cleansing,Toning and Moisturising

We learn't how to cleanse, tone and moisturize the face before applying make up. Cleansing breaks down make up and always use sensitive products. Always use cotton pads and stroke in a upwards motion. Keep eyes closed at all times and after you cleanse always tone. Never get any products in the hair but always cleanse up to hair line. Moisturise after toning but only use a pea size amount to avoid a greasy face. Always cover the client with a make up cape and treat client professionally. Always consult client before you begin on allergies and skin type.
